The House that Hope Built
We often say the church is not a building, but the people who make it up. This is especially true of Hope House.
Several years ago, the Burundi Hope Project urgently needed housing for orphans, widows, and deaf young women. Through the kindness of one man, a rental house was made available to the team—and Hope House was born.
Over time, we evaluated the long-term vision for Hope House. While it will remain a home for a few permanent residents, its primary mission will shift toward meeting short-term needs. It will serve as a central hub to support university students and those pursuing technical or vocational training. These individuals, many from Ephphatha Deaf School or Kanura School for the Blind, will receive support to start small businesses or prepare for the job market. We trust the Lord will continue to guide others to us.
Young women in transition will find safe, short-term housing under the roof of Hope House. Due to social dynamics, young men are typically able to secure housing more easily within their communities.
Hope House will carry forward the mission of the Burundi Hope Project: loving God, loving people, sharing the Gospel, and bringing hope to the people of Burundi. Through continued partnership with local schools, the team will lead community outreach programs involving their students. In addition, Women of Hope seminars will minister to women, offering biblical guidance and practical life skills.
The daily operations of Hope House will be led by Burundian nationals, with Burundi Hope Project walking alongside them—supporting until they become self-sustaining and independent.
Pray with Me as I head Back to Burundi!
On Monday, May 26, I will prayerfully be standing at the gate, ready to board my next flight to Burundi. I’ll be there for nearly a month, working closely with our team and assessing the plans for the next six months. Lord willing, I plan to return again in January 2026.
During this trip, the Burundi Hope team will continue to follow through with our established program plans. Once I return to the U.S. at the end of June, we’ll resume our weekly meetings to stay connected and aligned in the work ahead. Please pray for the Lord’s wisdom and guidance in every step.
I will also be praying for each of you as you seek how to be the hands and feet of Jesus—and as you consider how to support the ongoing work of the Burundi Hope Project. Your prayers, encouragement, and financial support mean more than we can express. The team and I are truly grateful for each one of you.
Together, we are bringing hope—one life at a time.
God bless!
